Our team is growing and we are currently seeking people to join us in the position of Training Advisor at our location Melbourne Airport, employed on a Full Time basis. The regular pattern of hours for this role will be Monday to Friday, with some attendance required outside normal business hours.
🛠 Purpose and Responsibilities
The Training Advisor will support Training and Capability Manager in delivering the training and development strategy for the security workforce at Melbourne Airport.
The role provides functional leadership, governance oversight, and qualify assurance across the two rotating training functions; regulated training and capability sustainment.
The Training Advisor ensures regulatory compliance, audit readiness, training quality, and workforce capability integrity are maintained in alignment with industry standards, Department of Home Affairs requirements, and ISS organisational objectives
As such, a typical day will include such duties as;
- Oversee delivery of accredited and mandated training programs, ensuring they meet RTO and regulatory standards
- Ensure assessment and validation practices comply with regulatory standards
- Identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions
- Support audit preparation and regulatory inspetions
- Validate assessment integrity and evidence collection practices
- Establish priorities for accreditation cycles and competency
maintenance.
- Oversee OJT/OQT standards and remedial strategies.
- Monitor workforce capability trends and escalate operational
risks.
- Maintain regulatory qualifications and approvals (ASIC, Victorian Security Licence and Screener Accreditor)
- Maintain health, safety and welfare within their area of
influence and/or business
- Participate in OHS consultation arrangements

- Demonstrated leadership capability and proven experience
in strategic planning and continuous improvement in a team
setting
- Experience in assessment validation and audit preparation
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Experience in compliance-driven training environment
- Strong analytical and reporting capability
- Proven knowledge of corporate leadership principles and
ability to mentor/coach others in leadership knowledge and
skills
- Experience in quality assurance and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
- High level of computer literacy and database analytics
- Ability to gain and maintain an ASIC
- Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (can be provided internally if not already held)
Stronger candidates will be able to meet these desirable criteria:
- Experience in an aviation security screening environment
- Experience utilising commercial LMS (learning management system) software
- Certificate IV Workplace Assessment and Training (TAE40122, TAE40116 or equivalent) or relevant workplace trainer experience
- Approval as a Screener Accreditor from Dept of Home Affairs (can be provided if not already held)
- Ability to gain and maintain a Victorian Security Licence
