We are inviting you to submit an Expression Of Interest for a Building Management Systems Operator to join our team in Melbourne. This role will essentially see you support a national telecommunications client with multisite operations across Australia. In this role, you’ll be the first point of awareness for any network infrastructure event, ensuring the right people are informed, the right actions are taken, and the right data is captured — every shift, every time

The Building Management Systems Operator role is primarily focused on operational delivery, responsible for the monitoring, operation, emergency response and escalation of events associated with building assets, critical systems. In addition, the BMS Operator will be responsible for the monitoring of building sub-contractors performing maintenance and change activities during their shift.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with client representatives.

ISS is providing facilities management services to this client on a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week basis and we will perform services to ensure zero network outages and operational continuity of the facilities assets, as all times for all sites.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Real‑Time Monitoring & Event Response

    • Monitor the performance of all network‑critical sites from the operations centre.

    • Triage alarms, identify anomalies, and escalate issues in line with agreed processes.

    • Maintain accurate shift logs and prepare structured shift summaries covering key operational parameters such as energy consumption, UPS load, temperature trends, CRAC performance, generator runtime, and power quality.

  • Analytical Intelligence & Pattern Recognition

    • Observe and escalate patterns such as repeat alarms, unusual equipment behaviour, or deviations from normal operating parameters.

    • Provide trend data and operational insights to support root‑cause analysis and asset performance reviews.

  • Access Verification & Compliance

    • Manage the After‑Hours Access Verification Form (AVF) process for all P1–P4 reactive works outside business hours — reviewing SWMS, permits, and compliance documentation before authorising contractor access

  • Structured Handover & Collaboration

    • Conduct formal shift handovers with the Operations Engineering Specialist to ensure continuity of operational awareness.

    • Liaise with internal teams, field technicians, and client representatives to support safe and efficient operations.

    HSEQ & Incident Management

    • Apply and uphold all HSEQ requirements, including hazard identification, incident reporting, and Zero Harm principles.

    • Support incident investigations and ensure accurate, timely reporting through internal systems.
