The Opportunity:

ISS is on the lookout for experienced and adaptable Chefs to join our casual FIFO team, supporting our mining village operations across Central Queensland.

Flying from Brisbane Airport, this is a flexible, casual opportunity ideal for chefs seeking variety and work-life balance, without committing to a full-time roster.

You’ll be working across multiple village sites, stepping into fast-paced kitchens where your skills and reliability make an immediate impact. No two swings are the same perfect for those who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy keeping things fresh.

About the Role:

As Chef, you will participate in kitchen operations while working with fellow qualified chefs to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals with consistency and pride.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals consistently and efficiently.
  • Support the kitchen team to maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
  • Assist with stock management, ordering, and kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
  • Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.

To be Considered:

  • Proven professional work experience as qualified chef (minimum 2–3 years).
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher) 
  • Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
  • Bulk cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen environment (desirable)
  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
  • Must pass a full Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
  • Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
  • Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
