The Opportunity:

ISS is seeking an experienced Kitchen Supervisor / Mine Site Dining Supervisor (Chief Steward) to lead kitchen and dining operations at a remote mining village located in the Bowen Basin, Central Queensland.

This is a Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) role suited to Central QLD locals, operating on a 2 weeks on / 1 week off roster, offering genuine work–life balance while working in a high-volume remote catering environment.

You will work closely with Chefs, site leaders, clients, and food preparation teams, with a strong focus on food safety, hygiene compliance, cleanliness, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilites:

• Lead, train, and motivate stewarding and dining teams to consistently meet ISS standards
• Enforce food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards across all kitchen and dining areas
• Manage dishwashing operations, deep cleaning schedules, and dining room set-up and pack-down
• Ensure full compliance with WHS, food safety, and site hygiene requirements
• Work closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Site Manager to support smooth daily operations
• Control cleaning supplies, equipment usage, and stewarding costs within budget
• Mentor team members and promote a positive, safety-focused workplace culture

To be considered, you need:

• Full working rights in Australia
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Chief Steward, Kitchen Supervisor, or similar leadership role within a high-volume commercial or industrial kitchen
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage teams in a structured environment
• Strong understanding of cleaning chemicals, procedures, and hygiene systems
• Advanced knowledge of food safety and WHS compliance
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume remote environment
• Previous experience in remote sites, mining camps, or DIDO/FIFO hospitality (highly regarded)
• Current National Police Clearance (within 12 months)
• Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, including Drug & Alcohol testing
• Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (desirable or willingness to obtain)
