We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Assistant Village Manager to be a part of establishing our services and embedding a highly committed service delivery team in partnership with our client at Dugald River Camp (north-west QLD) 

This is a permanent Full-Time opportunity working an 8 days on, 6 days off roster - Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) from Brisbane or Townsville. 

About the role 

This role will be responsible for the overall efficient running of our village operations (Cleaning, Catering, Facilities Management, Administration, Mine Site cleaning). 

The role will be responsible for managing the client relationship at a site level and will be focused on delivering contract compliance, ensuring facilities are managed to an exceptionally high standard and delivering an excellent ‘resident experience’ through a motivated and highly engaged service delivery team. The role will lead by example to drive accountability, set the standard and expectation in performance of duties and responsibilities. 

You will be a hospitality professional with demonstrated leadership skills around customer service delivery, people management and a strong focus on workplace health, safety and wellbeing. 

The Position:

  • Assisting the Village Manager in the management of all village operations including administration, catering and cleaning services 
  • Ensuring all aspects of service delivery in accordance with the contract for services 
  • Ensuring strong leadership to deliver quality service through operational and people performance 
  • Maximising revenue opportunities and maintaining strict cost control measures 
  • Maintaining consistent operational and people performance across site 
  • Ensure adequate resourcing and rostering for all services to be delivered at site 
  • Ensure a strong site safety culture and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) 
  • Developing a high-performance culture through an engaged team that understand and are committed to service delivery and ISS values
  • Support the ongoing development of your team to promote a flexible work environment where cross-skilling and upskilling of the team is valued 
  • Ensure performance management of team members is undertaken following established policies and procedures 
  • Recruit, retain, reward and recognise your team to foster a positive work culture

Minimum Criteria:

  • Ability to undertake regular travel to site on a DIDO/FIFO roster  
  • Ability to work in a remote and physically demanding environment
  • Proven experience managing mining camp/village operations or an extensive hospitality management background
  • Previous catering, accommodation management experience or chef qualifications are highly desirabl
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong and decisive leader in a dynamic operating environment 
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing a range of stakeholder relationships and delivering to plan 
  • Ability to build and develop an engaged and effective service delivery team 
  • Solutions focused - proven ability to adapt and maintain a flexible approach to changing needs or priorities
  • Financial acumen – experience in understanding budgets, managing P&L, labour/resourcing allocation and cost control 
  • Knowledge of workplace health & safety requirements and embedding a strong safety culture  
  • Experience in recruitment, retention and rostering 
  • Organised – outcome and deadline oriented. 
  • Strong and effective communication skills - verbal, written and presentation. 
  • High level of computer literacy and experience in managing village accommodation systems 
  • Physically fit with the ability to successfully pass pre-employment medical requirements 
  • Possess an Australian drivers licence
