The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Cleaning Manager to join our team based at Te Whatu Ora, Wellington. Our sites includes Porirua, Kenepuru, Paraparaumu and the Hutt Valley.

This role reports directly to the Operations Manager, and is responsible for ensuring that cleaning standards are met across all sites.

This is a permanent full time, hands-on role, which would suit someone who has experience in managing teams in a facilities management environment across multiple sites.  Some flexibility of hours and work location will be required to meet operational needs.

While this would preferably come from a health environment / cleaning background, this is not essential.

 Key tasks associated with the role are:

  • Leading and nurturing a large and diverse team, predominantly in our afternoon shift from 2-10pm
  • Maintaining a positive relationship with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer service and drive high quality outcomes
  • Having knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources and demonstrated experienced in resourcing, managing, coaching and developing a team who provide cleaning services

Minimum criteria:

If you consider yourself to have excellent communication skills – oral and written, proven organisational skills, and works with urgency, is solutions focused and has good eye for detail, then we want to hear from you.  Our successful applicant must be able to interact with a variety of people including staff, clients and the general public. You must be physically fit and have a high level of self-motivation as well as the ability to motivate a team to consistently deliver the highest standard of service, so what we are looking for is someone who can describe themselves as:

  • Having significant experience in a similar post, managing cleaning services and facilities.
  • Having proven experience of developing procedures and delivering cleaning standards
  • Having experience of managing cleaning services across multiple or complex sites
  • Having knowledge and can demonstrate the principles and processes for providing customer service.
  • Having knowledge and management principles for relevant equipment, policies, and procedures for data, property, and client contractual requirements including proven experience of budget management.
  • Having knowledge and can demonstrate the principles and procedures of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Holding a relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent in property, or business or related recognized professional cleaning qualification would be an advantage.
