We have an exciting opportunity to join our Business Performance team as a Catering and Hospitality Bid Solution Manager to assist in supporting upcoming tenders in the defence sector.  This 9 month fixed term contract (with possibility of extension) role would be based in either QLD, SA or WA.  Regular travel across these 3 states would be required.  A 5 days on, 2 days off roster would be likely with flexibility in line with business requirements.

Reporting into the Head of Food Products & Performance, the focus of the role will be across the key areas of:

  • Working directly with the Head of Food Products and Performance, ISS Pacific, Business Performance food team and closely with the ISS Sector Leadership, IT and all support teams to ensure defence customer expectations are understood and solutions are successfully developed.
  • Leading the delivery of a fully realised menu development program and manage the data and system integrity that supports that through recipe and cost build specific to the tender scope of works in both compliant and alternative offers.
  • Developing world class food & services capabilities and use these as a differentiator in the Australian defence sector.
  • The role will, in general, support ISS Pacific commercial teams in building bid solutions for the defence sector, leveraging best practice and processes from the ISS Pacific food platforms and ISS global food businesses
  • To support achieving these goals, the successful candidate will draw upon Local, Regional and Global Food Services teams as well as our Commercial and Sector based Food Excellence Leads together with our Operational Key Account Managers.
  • This role will directly manage Culinary and Food Data support resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage food concepts approved by Regional Food Excellence and play a direct role in building defence solutions of these concepts.
  • Collaborate in developing local food concepts to meet the needs of the ISS Pacific’s targeted segments.
  • Manage and participate in the development of costed menus with relevant allergy and nutrition and report on production and standardization. 
  • Support the Commercial team as required with segmented solutions, proposal generation and sales presentations
  • Participate as required in periodical commercial bid solutions meetings and provide milestone target updates
  • Develop marketing collateral to support concepts, promotions and all forms of consumer engagement
  • Support defence tender with the specific plans for mobilisation of new start ups and refurbishments
  • Conduct site reviews to ensure consistent concept implementation and best practices are understood and articulated in the solution
  • Work with Procurement to develop a food procurement strategy, ensuring supply chain supports new food concepts
  • Engage consumers and clients to understand their expectations and behaviors and to re-engineer solutions to meet their needs
  • Support roll out of Touchpoints@ISS for Food Services accounts
  • Create solutions that are a safety-first culture, including Food Safety and engaging directly with operations as required
  • Develop performance-based reports to support catering contracts and BUs, and manage the communication of these reports

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • Food service management experience – executive chef level or similar in Defence sector
  • Industry leading knowledge of food trends and innovative concepts, both in and about to enter the marketplace – in particular understanding dietetics, food services and processes in the Defence sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in costing, menu development and systems that support food services.
  • Service and customer oriented.
  • Experience within global matrix organization.
  • Project Management and Change Management experience
  • Self motivated, structured, systematic and collaborative
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills will be essential, given the role will work with diverse stakeholders and clients

Note: Due to the geographic footprint of the ISS business, interstate travel will be required.
