Reporting to the Senior Caretaker for SA Schools PPP, the Caretaker will form an integral part of the school community and will support the Operator Representative and other key School Employees in the day to day delivery of the caretaker and other support services.

The role will suit an energetic and extremely motivated professional to drive our service and excellence culture by delivering the following services:

  • Day to day caretaking services (litter collection, minor grounds and gardens maintenance tasks, moving equipment including basic office moves and setup and storage of audio visual equipment, opening and closing the school as well as access control and security services, day to day maintenance and minor repair (non-technical/licenced) work such as painting small areas or graffiti removal, picture hanging, plumbing, electrical and lock smithing tasks not requiring trade qualifications.

 Experienced candidates will be considered if they have the following skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships
  • Strong oral and good written communication skill sfor effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders
  • Positive and approachable disposition with a can do methodology to provide advice on issues of concern
  • Ensuring repairs and services are resolved to the highest safety standards
  • Understanding of service delivery requirements
  • Ability to work with other contractors on site in the delivery of their service obligations, including delivery of Catering, OSHC and Long Day Care Services.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of incident reporting and hazard management
  • Operational understanding and capability of the Building Management System and reporting functions.
  • Understanding of project management principles Experience in efficient use of cost effective materials.
  • Experience in the delivery of planned maintenance works
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience providing services in a school / education environment

 Minimum Criteria:

  • Building trade or related qualification (preferred)
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Police Check.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, team members and managers
  • Good Problem Solving Skills
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and demands to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Safe Work Practices
  • Extensive experience in handyman repairs, trades assistant, carpenter or similar trade background.
