New opportunities exist! We are currently seeking a Full Time Catering Manager at Box Hill Hospital as part of the Eastern Health Contract in Melbourne.

In capacity of a Full Time Catering Manager, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the daily catering operations to around "400 bed" facility in accordance with the Eastern Hospital Contract. The Catering Manager will foster a positive relationship with the client and create a safe and harmonious workplace for all employees.

You will have the following skills:

  • Previous management experience in a similar role within a health care facility with 300+ bed
  • Proven experience in motivating and managing teams including recruitment, performance management and training
  • Experience with the cook-chill catering process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional planning, organisational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and drive to deliver strong customer service
  • Genuine interest in working with and caring for people
  • Working knowledge of workplace health & safety regulations

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • To ensure that food preparation, presentation and service is carried out promptly and to ISS Standards
  • To maintain a high standard of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness in accordance with ISS, Client and statutory requirements
  • Ensuring all dietary requirements are met in a safe and compliant manner
  • Engaging with suppliers ensuring they are always delivering best product
  • Work closely with ISS Management and Catering Excellence Teams
  • To organise all catering and special event requirements, community groups, tailoring menus and ensuring all service requirements to meet their needs and budgets
  • To assist in the recruitment, selection and induction of staff in accordance with ISS standards
  • To ensure labour is rostered efficiently, productively and to budget
  • To actively pursue and achieve budget targets and assist in budget compilation
  • To assess weekly and monthly sales and maintain adequate controls to monitor budget performance
  • To be hands on in the operation and lead by example

Minimum Criteria:

  • Provision of National Police Clearance within three (3) months date of issue
  • Provision of Victorian Working With Children Check - Employment
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Certificate III Commercial Cookery essential and/or Diploma of Business, Hospitality and Catering preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience, leading a commercial kitchen, with ability to work with a substantial level of accountability.
  • Advanced Food Handlers Certificate or Food Safety Supervisor
  • Leadership abilities with previous experience in a management role
  • Experience in menu planning
  • Knowledge and passion for contemporary food trends, creativity, detail focused
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to control food and labour costs, as well as demonstrated analytical and mathematical ability
  • Strong financial and budgeting acumen
